Restoring Compressor Efficiency in Qatar

A major oil and gas operator in Qatar faced rising bearing temperatures in a recycle gas compressor, threatening a full facility trip and costly production losses. Partnering with Petrotec, Fluitec deployed the ESP VITA II system, which delivered an immediate reduction in temperature. To strengthen system stability, DECON was added afterwards, further lowering temperatures and restoring safe operation. By combining ESP VITA II and DECON, the operator avoided production downtime, protected critical equipment, and improved overall compressor efficiency. Over 10 years, the solution is projected to save USD 62,000, conserve 3,500 liters of oil, and reduce emissions by 50,000 kg CO2e.

Problem

A major oil and gas operator in Qatar began experiencing rising temperatures in a bearing in a recycle gas compressor. This threatened a trip to the entire facility and could have negatively impacted production.

Solution

Fluitec’s partner, Petrotec advised the customer to utilize the VITA ESP II system and add DECON to the system afterwards.

Results

After the ESP VITA II unit was placed on the system, the customer noticed an immediate decrease in temperature. This helped the system to remain functioning but as a further action, they also added DECON to the system and it saw a further decrease in temperature and the equipment was safe to operate. The customer avoided a trip to their facility and did not have any production losses due to their quick action of implementing the ESP VITA II and DECON to their system.
