A major power plant in Australia faced rising operational risks from elevated MPC values and declining RULER® results in its gas turbines. These conditions threatened reduced electricity supply to the grid and the possibility of heavy fines due to noncompliance with power delivery commitments. To address this, Fluitec introduced DECON AO at a 3% treat rate, boosting antioxidant levels and mitigating deposit formation. The treatment stabilized oil health, lowering MPC values while elevating RULER® results. For the past two years, the turbines have operated reliably without interruptions. Over a 10-year period, the solution is projected to save USD 238,000, conserve 24,500 liters of oil, and reduce emissions by 189,527 kg CO2e.
Problem
Elevated MPC values and diminished RULER® results raised operational concerns for the power station’s electricity supply to the grid. They would experience reduced supply which could impact on their ability to provide enough power for their customers resulting in heavy fines for the company.
Solution
Introducing DECON AO at a 3% treat rate aimed to augment antioxidant levels in the oil and mitigate deposit formation, pre-emptively preserving system availability.
Results
The introduction of DECON AO resulted in an elevation of the RULER value and a reduction in the MPC value within the system. This resolution alleviated customer concerns, and the oil has maintained a healthy condition for the past two years, ensuring uninterrupted operation of the power plant.
